Meet Kirsty

About Kirsty

Hi I'm Kirsty. I currently work for the NHS. I worked for 3 and a half years on the gastroenterology ward within Sunderland Royal hospital. The ward saw a lot of people who suffer from alcohol abuse. I also currently volunteer with individuals who suffer from substance misuse. I enjoy helping people in any way that I can. I am currently awaiting to start a new job woking with autistic adults. I look forward to a new challenge and job role.

I enjoy working at North Star Counselling service as it allows me to fulfil my passion of helping people. I enjoy the change of working with children rather than adults in the hospital setting.

I think the service Nicola is providing is fantastic and the children can really benefit presently and in the future from their experiences of the service.

My reasons for volunteering at North Star Counselling Service are to help Nicola to develop and grow a service that can support children and young people in need when ever I can.  Nicola's passion for the services she provides makes it an enjoyable environment to work in and be a part of.

Meet Laura

About Laura

Hi I'm Laura, my current full time status is supporting young people and adults with autism, learning disabilities and mental health. I am here on a personal note to give Nicola a helping hand in supporting children and young people to get the best support they can. I have first hand experience of mental health and the factors affecting daily life including the barriers people have to overcome. I am here at North Star Counselling Service to give back the support into the community that helped me and my close network. If I can influence one person's life by giving them a helping hand or a listening ear... then I'm happy :)
